How to Use Mappler for Nashville Food Accessibility

Mappler is a customizable smartphone based community participatory mapping application that allows community members to map amenities and concerns.

Setting up Mappler

STEP 1

Find Mappler in the Apple App Store (or Google Store) by searching for "MapplerK3".

STEP 2

Once the app downloads, log in.

STEP 3

The username and password will be given during the event.

Viewing the Map

The app will open the map. You can zoom in/out to view the area. Click on the button in upper right hand to get to your current location.  Each red pinpoint is a location that needs to be surveyed.

You can view existing data by clicking on the pinpoints.  Click on the arrow to view al the data collected.

Editing Data

STEP 1

To edit/ delete the data click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner.

STEP 2

Edit the current information for the Food Choices, Price, SNAP, WIC, Opening Hours, Main Users, Description, and Phone Number.

STEP 3

Options will be displayed for Food Choices, Price, SNAP, WIC, Opening Hours, Main Users, Description, and Phone Number where you will select the best description.

STEP 4

You should add a photo with your camera or photo gallery.

STEP 5

Once you have added a photo and input the new data, click update to save the information.

STEP 6

When you go back to the map, you should see your updated data point. Once completed, move on to the next red point.

Adding New Data Point

STEP 1

To add a new data point click on the + tab. 

STEP 2

The following page will pop up with your current location. Make sure location services are on. 

STEP 3

You should add a photo or take a picture 

STEP 4

Add the Store Name for the data point. 

STEP 5

Choose a category in which the data point falls. 

STEP 6

Options will be displayed for Food Choices, Price, SNAP, WIC, Opening Hours, Main Users, Description, and Phone Number where you will select the best description.


STEP 7

Once you have added a photo and input the new data, click save to save the information.


Other Features

You can view all the data points as a list on the second tab.

The third tab shows your profile information.

The last tab is the settings.
