The 2024 HBCU Wellness Summer Institute was a collaborative learning initiative focused on exploring community wellness through data, mapping, and applied research. The institute brought together participants to engage with tools and methods used to examine social, environmental, and structural factors that influence health outcomes in local communities.
Through hands-on activities and project-based learning, participants were introduced to community mapping platforms, data interpretation strategies, and examples of how spatial data can be used to support public health, equity, and planning efforts. The institute emphasized practical skill-building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and real-world applications of community data.
